The Kleffner tells an extraordinary story that begins in 1885. A rancher, known by the name of William C. Child, first purchased the land and stocked it with purebred Hereford cattle, calling it White Face Farm. However, after a decimating winter that quickly destroyed the herd, Child built the massive fieldstone barn for future protection. With the help of thirty Italian stonemasons, the three-story barn came to life. Shortly after, the octagonal house was similarly constructed with a ballroom on the second level. Child hosted many meetings and parties with guests arriving via his personal railroad car. Sadly, the Silver Panic of 1893 brought significant financial crisis and Child died that same year. As the ranch was passed over to various owners, its buildings slowly deteriorated until Paul Kleffner bought it in 1943. Paul Kleffner began restoring the old relics and naturally got into the wedding business while raising six daughters and one son. Jumping forward to 2005, Denis and Stacy Young, along with their son, Austin, purchased The Kleffner with big dreams and even greater visions.
Longtime residents of Arizona, Denis and Stacy were ready for bigger skies and new adventures, taking a leap of faith and instantly falling in love with The Kleffner. Over the years, Montana has become their new home as they have shared in the toil of restoring and improving The Kleffner’s buildings and grounds to their former glory. They love watching colorful sunsets, greeting new faces and sharing generously with all who visit. They have transformed the Kleffner Barn into an exquisite event space with an emphasis on weddings. Denis and Stacy have celebrated with many acquaintances, friends, and family members, including their son Austin and his new bride, Ashley. Austin and Ashley love to jump two feet in, create, and endeavor on crazy adventures together.
